If the examinations warrants further diagnostics, the patient undergoes laboratory tests in order to exclude reversible causes of memory disorders, such as vitamin B12 deficit, hypothyreosis, etc. The next stage, if necessary, is to perform a CAT scan of the brain. Upon establishing the final diagnosis, pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment should commence immediately.
